We are in the midst of one of the most infectious diseases in the modern-day. however to the normal citizen, it is not necessarily deadly. with only around a 0.1 death rate among people under 20, it is only really dangerous to the elders of our world. And it just so happens that we are learning about the plague of Athens,  this is pretty ironic. The plague of Athens was very, deadly it killed around 75,000-100,000 people. the coronavirus has killed around 30,000 and infected 400,000. The POA as I will call it from now on has been described by historians as extremely painful. The coronavirus is a respiratory disease, this means it attacks the lungs.

The economic and social impact of both of these diseases was incredible. Both ancient Athens and the modern-day world, both experienced economic slowdowns. Both Athenian and American social life has suffered. Also, this is one of, if not the reason that Athens lost the pelopenisioan war. Sparta was not nearly hit as bad as Athenians were, and with her army widdled down by the POA, the Spartans easily conquered the Athenians.
