Hello, Reader, My name is lane miller. Today in western civ we went over Sparta and Athens.
This Is Sparta!!!!!!
Sparta is legendary for its incredible infantry. this is because they started training their soldiers from a very young age. Males started training from the age of 7! that is very different than today's social standards, but back then there was a great honor and reward that comes with being a soldier.
Athens:
Athens was the naval power of the world. they had the fastest and strongest warship in the world. the trimaran. The trimaran was a triple deck 170 rower strong warship. its primary tactic was to ram into other ships.
THE PERSIAN WARS
the Persian wars were fought from 546-480 and spoiler alert the greeks win! But how? the Persians had superior numbers and equipment. Well, the biggest ada=vantage the greeks had was the home field advantage and a stronger navy. With the war being fought on your land you could more easily avoid flanks and thus do them yourself.
